In a display of athleticism and sportsmanship, the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOAU) Demonstration Primary School recently concluded its 9th Biennial Inter-House Sports Competition with the Blue House emerging as the overall champion.

Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie Meregini House, affectionately known as the Blue House, secured the coveted title by amassing an impressive tally of 8 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals, surpassing the performances of four other competing houses. The Green House, named Engr. Ugochukwu Ekpo House, claimed the second position with 6 gold, 3 silver, and 8 bronze medals, while the Yellow House, fondly dubbed the Good Fellaz Club, secured the third spot with 4 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

The Purple House, also known as Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa House, and the Red House, referred to as Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe House, secured the fourth and fifth positions respectively, showcasing the fierce competition among the houses.

The Vice-Chancellor of MOAU, Prof. Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, commended the school for organizing the sports competition, emphasizing its significance in promoting physical fitness and overall well-being among the pupils. Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, and School Board Chairperson, Prof. Franca Elechi Asawalam, Prof. Iwe praised the dedication of the staff in nurturing disciplined children who will contribute positively to the nation's future.

Dr. (Mrs.) V. I. Akpan, the Head Teacher, highlighted the importance of sports in fostering physical fitness and mental alertness among the pupils. She expressed gratitude to the parents, guests, and house patrons for their support and sponsorship, underscoring their crucial role in the school's pursuit of excellence.
