James Glory Jumoke, a 300-level sociology student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, revealed that her mother has been borrowing money to pay school fees for her and her siblings since her father left about 10 years ago.

Jumoke, one of 14 indigent students at the university awarded scholarships by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), expressed profound gratitude for the support received.

In response, the ASUU chairman at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Professor Nuradeen Almustapha, highlighted the expansion of the scholarship program to support two students from each university, up from one previously.

The vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Lawal Bilbis, emphasized the positive impact of such scholarships on academic performance, urging beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously.
