NANS Calls on FG to Halt Attacks on Tantita Personnel in Ondo
Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, entrusted with the protection of oil pipelines and combating crude oil theft in the Niger-Delta region, has faced a series of attacks on its personnel and facilities. The incidents primarily occurred in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas of Ondo State.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has issued a plea to the Federal Government, urging immediate intervention to cease the ongoing assaults on Tantita Security Services personnel in Ondo State.
In a statement released by Sen. Akinteye Afeez Babatunde, the President of the Senate of NANS, on Wednesday, the student body emphasized the necessity for decisive government action.
Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, entrusted with the protection of oil pipelines and combating crude oil theft in the Niger-Delta region, has faced a series of attacks on its personnel and facilities. The incidents primarily occurred in Ilaje and Ese-Odo Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
Under the leadership of Senior High Chief Idowu Asonja, Tantita Security has effectively collaborated with various security agencies, resulting in significant achievements in apprehending oil theft perpetrators and dismantling illegal refineries.
However, these commendable efforts have been met with fierce resistance, leading to a distressing incident on February 9, 2024. Armed individuals, clad in security uniforms, stormed Tantita Security's office in Agadagba, causing substantial damage and issuing threats against Chief Asonja.

NANS expressed deep concern over these acts of intimidation, which not only endanger Chief Asonja's safety but also undermine Tantita Security's vital role in ensuring security along Ondo State's waterways.
The student body stressed the importance of empowering and supporting Tantita Security to continue its essential work in safeguarding Nigeria's maritime interests.
NANS warned of potential dire consequences if the situation remains unaddressed, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to defuse tensions and uphold law and order in Ondo State.

In light of Tantita Security's documented achievements, including the interception of illicit vessels and protection of waterways in Ondo State, NANS urged the federal government to intervene promptly, uphold the rule of law, and ensure the integrity of security operations in the region.
