The University of Lagos (UNILAG) witnessed a significant transformation on Thursday, June 6, 2024, as the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), the franchise bottler of Coca-Cola in Nigeria, executed a complete rebranding of the university's main cafeteria, known as the 2001 Cafeteria. This initiative emerged from the "Ginja Naija" campaign, a nationwide activation program sponsored by the Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company, aimed at promoting community engagement and revitalization.

Officials from the NBC, led by Managing Director Goran Sladic, orchestrated the comprehensive makeover at the UNILAG Main Campus in Akoka. The cafeteria, situated at the New Hall Complex, underwent a remarkable facelift, including the replacement of all chairs and tables with new ones. Additionally, cafeteria staff received branded aprons, while students were greeted with various branded souvenirs upon visiting the renovated space, courtesy of the Coca-Cola team.

The involvement of NBC's Managing Director, Goran Sladic, ensured that every chiller in the cafeteria was fully stocked with beverages under the NBC franchise. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the University Management, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Management Services, Professor Lucian Obinna Chukwu, commended NBC for its generous contribution. He characterized the rebranding initiative as "another low-hanging fruit" of the enduring relationship between UNILAG and the Nigerian Bottling Company. Prof. Chukwu reiterated the university's dedication to maintaining and maximizing the newly upgraded cafeteria facilities, ensuring they serve the needs of students and staff effectively.
