The newly appointed Chairman of the Governing Council at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Mr. Olukayode Ojo, has pledged to elevate the university to global recognition. During a three-day working visit to inspect projects and familiarize himself with the Oye and Ikole Ekiti campuses, Ojo expressed his admiration for the institution’s potential for greatness.
Ojo commended the university’s management for maintaining the federal government’s vision in establishing FUOYE. He emphasized the council’s commitment to collaborating with the vice chancellor to sustain and enhance the university’s progress.
However, Ojo raised concerns about the inadequate facilities in light of the growing student population. He promised to address this issue with the federal government and relevant authorities, noting that the current infrastructure meets less than 50 percent of the required standards for the university’s growth.
Ojo stressed the need for immediate government intervention and expressed optimism about receiving support from various government agencies and well-meaning individuals to meet the university’s infrastructural needs. He highlighted the importance of these facilities in preparing students for the future and noted that the university’s multiple campuses require special consideration.
