The newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), led by Pro-Chancellor Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, visited the Kogi State Government at the Government House in Lokoja on Tuesday. The visit marked the first official engagement of the Council, which was warmly received by His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Kogi State Head of Service, Mr. Elijah Adeiza Evinemi, along with other top government officials.

During the meeting, Senator Ndoma-Egba expressed gratitude to the Kogi State Government for providing a conducive environment for the university's growth. He highlighted the need for further collaboration, particularly in addressing the overdue compensation to the host community for the lands allocated for the university and in securing the necessary land title documents.

Governor Ododo, through his representative, assured the Governing Council of the state’s commitment to supporting education and promised to address the issues raised. He also praised Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi for his significant contributions to FUL's development since taking office.

Professor Akinwumi, in his remarks, lauded Senator Ndoma-Egba’s appointment as Pro-Chancellor, describing it as a perfect fit. He emphasized that the university is fortunate to have a leader of such integrity and experience guiding the institution.

This visit underscores the ongoing efforts of FUL's leadership to strengthen ties with the state government and enhance the university’s development.
