Nigeria Expands Student Loan Access: 22 More Institutions Approved
The Nigerian government has approved 22 additional state-owned tertiary institutions to apply for student loans.
The Nigerian government has approved 22 additional state-owned tertiary institutions to apply for student loans. This approval was granted by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) on Wednesday, August 14.
NELFUND, responsible for handling all loan requests, grants, disbursements, and recoveries, announced the approval through a statement posted on X. The clearance followed a review by the committee overseeing the Student Verification System.
The commission encouraged the newly cleared institutions to apply for loans via its portal at nelf.gov.ng. Prior to this, 86 state-owned institutions were cleared, bringing the total to 108 institutions whose students are now eligible to apply.
The newly cleared institutions include:

- College of Education, Nsugbe
- Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University
- Delta State University, Abraka
- Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Delta State
- Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti
- Kogi State University, Kabba, Kogi State
- Prince Abubakar Audu University
- Kwara State University
- Kwara State College of Health Technology
- Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna
- Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese-Ijebu
- Moshood Abiola Polytechnic
- Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo
- The Polytechnic, Ibadan
- The Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki
