Nnamdi Azikiwe University Vice-Chancellor Inspects Hostels, Orders Immediate Intervention
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, undertook an inspection of students’ hostels on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, as part of his first official actions after assuming office as Substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The visit covered the Prof. Dora Akunyili Female Hostel and the Basilio Aoli Male Hostel.
During the engagement, student representatives led by Comrade Samuel Chinazam highlighted pressing needs, particularly unstable power supply and the cost of internet access. Professor Anyaehie approved free WiFi subscription with immediate effect and assured students that power supply challenges would receive urgent attention. He encouraged students to remain focused on their studies, reaffirming the university’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment.
Positioning himself as a student-centred administrator, Professor Anyaehie announced plans for regular engagement with class representatives and the establishment of a dedicated communication channel to ensure swift feedback on student concerns. He assured the students that notable improvements would be evident before they return from the Christmas break.

In a press briefing, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed his intention to commission new projects within his first month in office. He also inspected several abandoned structures, including the Vice-Chancellor’s lodge and the Alumni building, and pledged expedited action to ensure their completion.
Professor Anyaehie was accompanied on the inspection tour by internal members of the Governing Council and the Provost of the College of Health Sciences, Nnewi, Professor F. Emejulu.
