NOCEN Launches Healthy Living Club in Alignment with State Initiative

Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN),on Tuesday inaugurated the Healthy Living Club, aligning with Anambra State’s "Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo" initiative.

 Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, Provost of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), spearheaded the official launch of the Healthy Living Club at the institution on Tuesday. This initiative aligns with the “Healthy Living With Nonye Soludo” campaign recently endorsed by the Anambra State government.

The event, attended by college staff and students, began with an opening prayer led by Ven. Chiedozie Alutu. In her address, Provost Anyadiegwu praised Dr. Nonye Soludo for her dedication to the health and well-being of the people of Anambra, highlighting her as a role model for promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Anyadiegwu urged the college community to adopt a deliberate approach to healthy living, emphasizing its role in enhancing productivity.

The launch featured several key presentations. Dr. Ibeagha discussed the benefits of incorporating walking into daily routines, describing it as a simple yet effective means of maintaining health. He underscored the invaluable nature of health, suggesting it should be pursued with utmost priority.

Dr. Sam Udeorah advocated for backyard farming, explaining that cultivating one’s own vegetables and fruits can be more beneficial and cost-effective than purchasing processed products from stores. He encouraged the community to grow their own produce to improve overall health.

In her presentation, Dr. Amaka Bob-Eze, Chairman of the Healthy Living Club at NOCEN, highlighted the advantages of local foods in maintaining a healthy diet. Her two-page paper, titled “Healthy Diets: Using Local Foods,” explored the numerous benefits of local produce, including economic and cultural advantages.

Mrs. Juliana Ofoefuna, Principal of NOCEN Demonstration Secondary School, expressed gratitude to the Provost for embracing Dr. Soludo’s Healthy Living Initiative and supporting the establishment of the Healthy Living Club.

The event concluded with a closing prayer by Ven. Dr. Charles Chukwurah. The launch marked a significant step towards fostering a culture of health and well-being within the college community.
