Nwafor Orizu College of Education Receives 100 Palm Seedlings as Anambra State Launches Tree Planting Initiative

Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN) received 100 palm seedlings during the launch of Anambra State's tree planting initiative at Godwin Achebe Stadium in Onitsha. The event, held on Saturday, July 20th, 2024, was presided over by His Excellency Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State.

Representing the Provost of NOCEN, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, Dr. Maureen Chukuma, Director of Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), led the college community in attendance. The governor emphasized the pivotal role of educational institutions in fostering green environments through tree planting efforts. He highlighted the dual benefits of such initiatives in enhancing ecological health and promoting economic prosperity across Anambra State.
The distribution of over one million palm and other economic tree seedlings aims to beautify educational campuses while harnessing the economic potential of tree crops. NOCEN's receipt of 100 palm seedlings shows its commitment to integrating environmental sustainability into its academic and operational ethos.
