Northwest University Kano Receives Two Hummer Buses from Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar

In his commitment to educational development, Honorable Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, the distinguished Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has donated two brand-new Hummer buses to Northwest University Kano.

The donation ceremony, held on Monday 7, July in Bichi town, attracted a large crowd and representatives from various higher institutions across Kano State, all of whom were beneficiaries of the generous gesture. The event highlighted Hon. Abubakar’s dedication to supporting the education sector through practical interventions aimed at enhancing mobility and logistics within academic environments.

In addition to Northwest University Kano, other institutions that benefitted from the bus donation include Bayero University Kano (BUK), which received two buses; Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, also received two; Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano (FCE Kano) received one; Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies received one; Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education got one; Kano State Polytechnic received one; and Maitama Sule College of Advanced and Remedial Studies also received one.

Representing the Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, at the event was the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Musa, who conveyed the university's heartfelt appreciation to the Honourable Member. He lauded Hon. Abubakar for his consistent support, noting that this latest contribution adds to a growing list of developmental interventions facilitated by the lawmaker.

“Honourable Abubakar Kabir Abubakar has consistently demonstrated his support for our university. Only recently, he facilitated the construction of a 5-kilometre road within our main campus — a project that has greatly improved accessibility and infrastructure on campus,” Dr. Musa stated.

Although Professor Kurawa was unavoidably absent, he expressed, through his representative, the university’s immense gratitude for the donation and praised the Honourable Member’s enduring partnership with the institution. On behalf of the entire university community, the Vice Chancellor extended warm appreciation for the kind gesture, noting that the donation will go a long way in addressing transportation challenges.

This development shows the important role of public office holders in encouraging educational advancement, and it reinforces the growing collaboration between government representatives and academic institutions in Kano State.
