NOUN Abeokuta Visits Former President Obasanjo, Seeks Expansion Support

The Management of the Abeokuta Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), led by Centre Director Dr. Oyekunle Adegboyega, paid a courtesy visit to former President of Nigeria, Chief Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo.

During the visit, the team expressed their gratitude for Obasanjo's continued support, particularly for the Abeokuta Centre. Dr. Adegboyega also discussed the need for beautification at the centre and proposed the establishment of additional study centres in Ogun State, specifically in Ifo, Sagamu, and Sango-Ota, to make education more accessible to residents.

In response, Chief Obasanjo recommended a self-help approach and suggested that the late Chief Delana’s property in Ifo could be a suitable location for a new centre. He advised the team to engage with Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, for further support.

Obasanjo also pledged his assistance in realizing the centre’s goals.
