NOUN Director Launches Advocacy Campaign at Anglican Synod in Akoko-West

The Director of the Oka-Akoko Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Joseph B. Oyadeyiat, led an advocacy campaign to St. John’s Anglican Church, Ogbagi-Akoko, in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The campaign took place during the 1st Session of the 14th Synod, where Dr. Oyadeyiat addressed the Youth Convocation, representing Anglican youths from four local government areas in Akoko land.

During his address, Dr. Oyadeyiat highlighted NOUN’s mission to provide accessible, flexible, and affordable education through Open and Distance Learning (ODL), which is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). He encouraged the youths to take advantage of NOUN's programmes and explained the admission process, eligibility criteria, and the institution’s mode of instruction.

In response to misconceptions about NOUN being exclusively for part-time or working-class students, Oyadeyiat clarified that the university is open to all individuals seeking knowledge and personal development. He also detailed the various faculties and programmes available at NOUN, urging attendees to seize the educational opportunities available at their doorstep.

The event allowed participants to ask questions, which were addressed by Dr. Oyadeyiat. He also distributed university literature and admission details to the Youth President for wider dissemination. Soft copies of NOUN’s admission advertisements were provided to youth leaders for further sharing on their platforms.

The Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Jacob O.B. Bada, expressed his appreciation to the NOUN team for their informative engagement.
