The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) held a valedictory lecture on October 10, 2024, in honor of retiring administrator Mrs. Margaret Boro, who used the platform to encourage young officers to pursue excellence and resilience in their careers. The ceremony, hosted at NOUN headquarters, celebrated Boro’s decades of service, with notable figures like Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters and Registrar Mr. Oladipo Ajayi praising her leadership and dedication.

Mrs. Boro shared insights from her career, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, especially when facing challenges in administration. She reminded the audience, "Tough times don’t last, but tough people do," while urging young professionals to remain committed to their roles. Her speech reflected on her own experiences, including overcoming setbacks such as the rescinding of her appointment as Director of the Lafia Study Centre due to local opposition.
