NOUN Staff School Pupils Embark on Excursion to College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Kaduna

Pupils from the National Open University of Nigeria’s Staff School (NSS), Kaduna, visited the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando, Kaduna, for an educational excursion aimed at enhancing their learning beyond the classroom.

Pupils of the National Open University of Nigeria’s Staff School (NSS), Kaduna, recently embarked on an educational excursion to the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Mando, Kaduna, to enhance their learning experiences beyond the classroom.

Speaking during the visit, the team leader, Mr. Richard Tanko, emphasized that the primary objective of the excursion was to broaden the pupils’ understanding of agriculture and its relevance to national development. He noted that the visit would provide them with firsthand knowledge of agricultural practices while engaging with professionals in the field.

During the tour, the pupils explored various departments within the college, where they received detailed explanations about different agricultural processes. Some of the departments visited included Poultry, Agricultural Machinery, Goattery, Piggery, Dairy, Rabbittery, and Fishery.

Sharing her experience, Khadija, a Primary 3 pupil, expressed her excitement about the visit. She stated that she was thrilled to see and interact with animals such as pigs, goats, and fish in a pond, which she had previously only seen in cartoons. She expressed her eagerness to participate in future excursions for more hands-on experiences.

The excursion provided the pupils with a unique opportunity to witness agricultural operations firsthand, reinforcing their classroom knowledge and inspiring a deeper appreciation for the field.
