NOUN Welcomes Newly Inaugurated Governing Council Members
The newly-appointed council is chaired by former Bauchi State governor, Malam Isa Yuguda. Other esteemed members of the council include Dr. Godwin Etta, Hon. Hingah Biem, Hon. Yomi Balogun, and Barr. Mrs. Deborah Appah. The inauguration of this five-member council marks the seventh Governing Council for NOUN.
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, the Honourable Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN, CON, inaugurated the new Governing Council of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). The ceremony took place at the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) auditorium in Abuja.
The newly-appointed council is chaired by former Bauchi State governor, Malam Isa Yuguda. Other esteemed members of the council include Dr. Godwin Etta, Hon. Hingah Biem, Hon. Yomi Balogun, and Barr. Mrs. Deborah Appah. The inauguration of this five-member council marks the seventh Governing Council for NOUN.
In his address, Prof. Mamman emphasized the critical role of the Governing Council in steering the university towards achieving its mission of providing accessible and flexible learning opportunities for all Nigerians. He urged the new council members to uphold the university’s values and work diligently to enhance its reputation and academic standards.
Malam Isa Yuguda, in his acceptance speech, expressed his commitment to contributing positively to the university’s growth. He highlighted the importance of collaboration among council members and the university’s administration to achieve common goals.
The inauguration of the Governing Council was part of a larger ceremony that included the introduction of other newly-appointed Chairmen and members of Governing Councils for Federal Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education across the country.
