In a shocking incident, Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, has been apprehended by the Bauchi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old secondary school student, Umar Usman, to death.

The revelation was made by Corps Commandant Ilelaboye Oyejide during a press briefing on Sunday in Bauchi. Oyejide explained that the suspect was taken into custody in the Misau local government area of the state.

The Command received information about a tragic incident where a 17-year-old secondary school student, Umar Usman, was discovered wrapped in clothes and abandoned at Misau bypass.

Oyejide stated, "This is a case of culpable homicide; on the 20th of October 2023, a lifeless body of Umar Usman was found wrapped in a white cloth and dumped in Misau bypass. He was quickly taken to General Hospital Misau where he was certified dead and handed over to the family for burial."

After an extensive investigation by NSCDC operatives, a suspect was identified as Abdullahi Ibrahim, a 500-level student of Veterinary Medicine at ABU Zaria.

During the investigation, it was revealed that there had been chat communication between the suspect, Ibrahim, and the deceased, Usman. Shockingly, the suspect enticed the deceased with a homosexual proposition, sharing explicit images. Subsequently, when the deceased met with the suspect, he was allegedly stabbed in the stomach, wrapped in a white cloth, and abandoned at the location where he was found.

The Commandant confirmed that the suspect has confessed to the crime and will be brought to court to face charges accordingly.

In his defense, Ibrahim Abdullahi claimed that the deceased had approached him with a knife, leading to a struggle that ended in the fatal stabbing. He expressed his fear at the situation, which prompted him to wrap the deceased's body and dispose of it along the bypass road.

The Bauchi State Command of NSCDC is taking further action in this tragic case, which has sent shockwaves through the community.
