NUC Accreditation Panel Visits University of Maiduguri for Evaluation of New Programmes
The National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel has commenced a visitation to the University of Maiduguri to assess newly established undergraduate programmes in the Faculties of Engineering, Education, and Environmental Studies.

Receiving the team at the Council Chamber Annex of the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration), Professor Babagana Bako, urged the panel to conduct a comprehensive and transparent evaluation.
He emphasized the need for a hitch-free exercise and encouraged the assessors to freely examine the strengths and weaknesses of the programmes, offering constructive recommendations where necessary.

The accreditation visit covers the following programmes:
- Faculty of Engineering: Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Faculty of Education: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc Ed)
- Faculty of Environmental Studies: Urban and Regional Planning (URP)
Professor Mele called on Deans, Heads of Departments, and the Academic Planning Unit to cooperate fully with the visiting teams and provide all required documentation.

Leader of the NUC Accreditation Team, Professor Ibrahim Muhammad Danjuma, stated that the panel’s mission is to assess the level of preparedness of the new programmes and ensure compliance with NUC quality assurance standards.
