NUC Accredits 12 Programmes and Grants Interim Status to One at FUBK
Programs granted interim accreditation will undergo reassessment within two years for full accreditation
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited 12 undergraduate programmes at the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK), with an additional programme receiving interim accreditation. This accreditation follows an assessment conducted between November and December 2023, as detailed in a report signed by Engr. Abraham Chundusu, Acting Director of Accreditation on behalf of the Executive Secretary.
The accredited programmes span across the Faculties of Arts, Social and Management Sciences, and Science. Notable among them are Business Administration, History and International Studies, Demography and Social Statistics, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Applied Geophysics, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. Programs granted interim accreditation will undergo reassessment within two years for full accreditation.

Professor Muhammad Zaiyan Umar, Vice Chancellor of FUBK, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes, expressing confidence that the programme with interim status would achieve full accreditation within the stipulated timeframe. He acknowledged the contributions of university management, deans, directors, department heads, staff, and students in ensuring the success of the accreditation process.
The university affirmed that NUC, mandated by Section 10 (1) of the Education (National Minimum Standard and Establishment of Institutions) Act CAP 3LE3, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, sets and monitors minimum academic standards for Nigerian universities, including accreditation of programmes.
Implementation of the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) began in the 2023/2024 academic session, ensuring compliance across all programmes offered at FUBK.
