NUC Visits McPherson University for Accreditation of Economics Programme
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has paid an accreditation visit to McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, to assess and accredit the institution’s Economics programme. The exercise forms part of the Commission’s ongoing mandate to uphold academic quality and ensure that all university programmes meet established national standards.

The accreditation panel included Prof. Isa G. N., Maimunat O. Sulaiman (representing the NUC), and Prof. I. G. Umaru. The team arrived on campus to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the programme’s facilities, curriculum, and compliance with the NUC’s Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS).
They were warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, who was joined by the Director of Academic Planning, Prof. Kenneth Nwoko, and other principal officers of the University. Prof. Nwoko reaffirmed the institution’s readiness and commitment to the accreditation process, noting that the Economics department had prepared thoroughly for the exercise.

During the assessment, the NUC officials inspected lecture rooms, offices, laboratories, and academic resources used for the programme. They also evaluated staff qualifications, reviewed curriculum documentation, and engaged with both students and faculty members to gain insights into the teaching and learning environment.
Prof. Igbasan assured the accreditation team of the University’s continued dedication to maintaining high academic standards. He emphasized that McPherson University prioritizes excellence in teaching, research, and community impact, while providing a conducive learning environment for students.

At the end of the visit, the NUC team commended the University management for its cooperation and hospitality. They noted that their findings and recommendations would help strengthen the Economics programme and enhance its alignment with national and global academic benchmarks.
