OAU Management Responds Swiftly to Amphitheatre Ceiling Collapse, Urges Calm

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has issued a call for calm following an incident on campus where the ceiling of the Amphitheatre collapsed, injuring several students.
According to a statement by the university's spokesperson, Abiodun Olanrewaju, the collapse occurred during torrential rainfall on Thursday morning while students were attending a lecture. The Vice Chancellor, Prof Adebayo Simeon Bamire, along with other principal officers, promptly visited the university's medical and health center where the injured students were receiving medical attention.

Assuring the university community, Bamire stated that the injured students were receiving adequate medical care and urged everyone to carry on with academic and administrative activities. The Amphitheatre has been sealed off until further notice as a precautionary measure.
The statement emphasized that the university's management is actively addressing the situation and ensuring the safety of all students and staff.
