The Central Office of Research (COR) at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, celebrated a momentous occasion as it welcomed its new Executive Director, Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe. The close-door handover meeting, held at the COR office, gathered key stakeholders, including the directors of the three units under the Central Office of Research.
The esteemed directors present were:
- Prof. Babajide Odu, Director of the University Research Office (URO)
- Prof. Grace Ogunlusi, Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO)
- Prof. ‘Niran Oluwaranti, Director of the Linkages and Partnerships Office (LPO)
During the event, the outgoing Executive Director, Prof. Morenike Ukpong, expressed her gratitude to the three directors she collaborated with during her tenure. She provided a comprehensive briefing to Prof. Adejuyigbe about the ongoing programs and initiatives within the office. Prof. Ukpong also handed over a detailed report summarizing the office’s activities over the past year, emphasizing continuity and support for her successor.
The three directors reciprocated by acknowledging Prof. Ukpong’s impactful leadership during her tenure and extended their best wishes for her future endeavors.
Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe: A Distinguished Profile
Prof. Adejuyigbe, a renowned expert in Pediatrics, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Her impressive background includes:
- Former Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at Obafemi Awolowo University
- President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria
- Current Vice-President of the African Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases
- Co-chair of the National Child Health Technical Working Committee
- International service as a member of several World Health Organization Guideline Development Committees, including Breastfeeding Counseling and STAGED KMC groups.
In her inaugural speech, Prof. Adejuyigbe expressed her appreciation for Prof. Ukpong’s exemplary leadership and commitment. She pledged to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessor and foster collaboration, innovation, and impactful research within the Central Office of Research.
