FUTMINNA Postpones Resumption to Due to Power Outage and Payment System Issues

The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) has officially announced the postponement of the resumption of academic activities to January 20, 2025. The decision, reached during an emergency Senate meeting on November 19, 2024, follows unforeseen challenges on campus.

The primary reason for the delay is a power outage that affected the university’s operations. The failure of certain components in the university's transformer requires the importation of replacement parts, which has led to the postponement. The university management noted that the current power issues on campus would impede the smooth conduct of academic activities.

In addition to the power challenges, there have been issues with the NELFUND payment system, which affects students’ ability to pay their school fees and subsequently book hostel accommodations. These factors combined led to the decision to delay the start of the academic session.

In a statement from the Student Union, officials acknowledged the inconvenience this postponement may cause, especially for students who had already resumed on campus. They emphasized that the delay was made with the students’ best interests in mind, as the current campus conditions were not conducive for learning.
