Accompanied by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, Obi commended the university for prioritizing character development. In their separate speeches at the Archbishop C. J. Patterson Auditorium in Onitsha, both Obi and Nebo highlighted the unique attributes of the University on the Niger, emphasizing its faith-based foundation and commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among its students.

During his visit, Peter Obi also toured the Iyi-Enu Mission Teaching Hospital, a take-off campus of the university. Expressing satisfaction with the ongoing work and displaying his enduring commitment to education, Obi generously contributed N10 million to support the university's further development.
