Commonwealth of learning in conjunction with the Lagos State University held a training on Open Educational Resources (OER).

The Commonwealth of Learning in Conjunction with the Lagos State University held a training on Open Educational Resources (OER) on Tuesday, 11th July 2023, at the Senate Building, First floor, Council Matters Chambers, main campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, represented by the DVC (Admin.), Prof. Adenike Omotunde Boyo in her opening remarks expressed gratitude to the commonwealth of learning and Lagos State University for organizing the training on Open Educational Resources (OER). She also thanked members of the management team, the facilitator, Prof. Francis Egbokhare, Director, DICT, Prof. Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin for their contribution towards making LASU a dream University for all, and the participants for their attendance and encouraged them to be prepared, have an open mind, and continue learning to become facilitators.

The Vice Chancellor, highlighted that the first part of the training was focused on developing and adapting OER policy, which the participants who attended the previous training  were aware of. She mentioned that the University has successfully formed its policy and that LASU Senate has approved it.

The Professor of Physiology, emphasized the importance of the physical training in promoting and deploying OER, and stated that the participants should develop strategies to market their plans. She further mentioned that the materials given to the participants were for the pre-workshop assignment from the ODLRI of LASU, which they would defend during the training session.

The training session began with each group leader introducing themselves and presenting their evaluation of various course materials. The facilitator commended all the participants for their diligence and excellent presentations, mentioning that the work they have done is of high standard and could bring accreditation team to the university.

The facilitator, a Professor of Linguistics, in his address to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, commended all the participants for being diligent and giving their best in their presentations.. in his words, he said “What the participants have come up with in the training session is enough to bring in the accreditation team, they have done fantastically well."

A Six-man drafting committee was created to compile an overall report of all the group presentations, which will be submitted as a university document. The Vice Chancellor, applauded the participants for their efforts and excellent presentations.

The programme was closed by the DVC (Admin), Prof. Adenike Omotunde Boyo with words of encouragement for the participants.
