Philip Orebiyi Delivers Public Lecture on African Culture at Kogi State University

Philip Orebiyi, a distinguished figure in cultural preservation, recently delivered a public lecture at Kogi State University's Faculty of Management, Administration, and Social Sciences, Department of Mass Communication. Despite a potential conflict with his official board meeting at the Kogi Hotels and Tourism Board, Orebiyi accepted the invitation after the department accommodated his schedule.

Orebiyi was joined by Honorable Juwon Olorunnipa (Jumabee), a cultural personality and Special Adviser on Arts and Culture to the Kogi State government. Although they arrived to find the event had concluded, the organizers reconvened the students, who impressed Orebiyi and Jumabee with their discipline. Jumabee encouraged the students to maintain their exemplary behavior for future success.

In his lecture titled "Preserving the Glamour of African Culture in the 21st Century," Orebiyi highlighted the importance of a multifaceted approach to safeguarding African cultural heritage. His discussion covered various strategies including documenting cultural practices, educating youth, promoting cross-cultural understanding, leveraging digital technologies, and engaging with local communities.

Orebiyi expressed gratitude to the university's management, the Dean, the head of the department, and the students for their warm hospitality and recognition. The lecture was well-received, and Orebiyi and Jumabee left with commendations for their contributions.
