Police Parade Suspects in Murder of Kwara State College of Health Technology Graduate

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in connection with the murder of Mojisola Awesu, a 21-year-old graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology. Mojisola was killed in a hotel and her body discarded at a refuse site after being lured to Ilorin by Adebayo Happiness, a dismissed student from Summit University, Offa. Happiness had offered her a fee of N15,000 to act as his girlfriend at a party.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, announced the arrests at a press briefing on Friday, August 30. The suspects include Adebayo Happiness, his parents Pastor Adebayo Adeniyi and Mrs. Bukola Adeniyi, Miss Kolawola Timileyin who facilitated the connection between the deceased and Happiness, and three hotel workers: Adeoye Adeola, Lawal Amina, and Bulus Peter.

CP Olaiya revealed that after the murder, the prime suspect returned to Offa and hid the stolen phone in his hostel wardrobe. The police conducted a thorough investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect’s parents. They were found to have tampered with evidence, including removing the SIM card from the victim’s phone and hiding it within a wall. The iPhone and SIM card, contrary to the suspect’s claim that he had discarded them, were recovered from the parents’ possession.

The investigation further uncovered that the hotel staff involved had unlawfully disposed of Mojisola’s body. The CP assured that the suspects would be charged in court and reaffirmed the Kwara State Police Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining public security.
