A protest has broken out in Asaba, the capital city of Delta State in Nigeria, over allegations of electoral malpractice in the just-concluded 2023 Nigerian general elections.

According to eyewitnesses, the protesters, mostly youth, took to the streets, chanting slogans and brandishing placards accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of rigging the elections in favor of the ruling party.

The protesters alleged that the electoral process was marred by irregularities, including ballot box stuffing, voter intimidation, and violence, and demanded that the election results be cancelled and a new election conducted.

The protest in Asaba is a reflection of the growing frustration and disillusionment among Nigerians with the country's political system. Many Nigerians feel that their voices are not being heard and that the electoral process is rigged in favor of the ruling elites.

The Nigerian government has promised to address these concerns and to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process in 2023 general elections. However, many Nigerians remain skeptical and are calling for urgent reforms to strengthen the country's democratic institutions and promote greater accountability and transparency in the political system.
