The bishop’s remarks were made during the inauguration of Prof. Timothy Olubisi Adejumo as the second vice-chancellor of the faith-based university. This follows the end of the tenure of the pioneer VC, Prof. Julius Oloke.

“We want academic excellence with a spiritual foundation for the future. Without the spiritual foundation, I would have been a tout and one of those troubling the country. Spiritual foundation is key,” Oke said. He further highlighted that the university stands on two pillars: academic excellence and spiritual soundness.

Bishop Oke, who also serves as the General Overseer of Sword of The Spirit Ministries International, reiterated the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and spiritual soundness. He stated that the university has zero tolerance for promiscuity and cultism.

“There is zero tolerance for promiscuity and cultism. If it is only 10 students we have and meet our standards and that of God, we are satisfied,” the cleric declared.

He encouraged the new VC to be open to ideas from others to advance the institution. He assured Prof. Adejumo that his position is secure, emphasizing that his appointment was not made through “the back door.”

“A university is where we trade in ideas. Let us be open to ideas and open doors to ideas. We are very passionate about the university. We want to contribute to its growth,” he stated.
