Professor Femi Adebola Becomes New Dean Of FUTA School Of Physical Sciences

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji has approved the appointment of Professor Femi Adebola of the Department of Statistics as the Dean, School of Physical Sciences (SPS), for a term of two years effective August 1, 2023. The appointment is sequel to his election at the School’s Board of Studies meeting.
Born over five decades ago in Kabba, Kogi State, Adebola had his elementary education at St. Andrew’s Primary School, Kabba, 1977-1983; Secondary at St. Barnabas Secondary School, Kabba, 1983-1988 before proceeding to the University of Ilorin, Kwara State for a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, 1994-1997. He crowned it with Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics from the same institution in 2003 and 2011 respectively.
Professor Adebola started his teaching career as an Assistant Lecturer with the Kogi State University, Anyigba, October 2003-September 2004 before joining the services of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences in October, 2004.
He became a Lecturer II on October 1, 2007; Lecturer 1, October 2010; Senior Lecturer, Department of Statistics, October 2013; Reader, October 2016; and Professor, October 2019.
Professor Adebola also served as Reader in the Department of Computer Science at Landmark University, Omu-Aran, Kwara State on Sabbatical, October, 2016-October, 2017.
A thorough-bred academic, Adebola who acted as Head, Department of Statistics, August 1, 2014-July 31, 2016 has published over 47 Journal articles in local and international journals in addition to conference proceedings.
He also served as member of several committees of the university, Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator, Departmental Final year project and SIWES coordinator and Student’s Registration and Level adviser.
Outside the university, he has served as Proctor, JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination 2019-2021.
Adebola who has won several TETFund research grants is a part time Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and he is married with children.
