Rector Describes Federal Polytechnic Bali as Student-Friendly, Urges Discipline During and After Studies

The Senator Abubakar Tutare Auditorium at Federal Polytechnic Bali was filled with energy on April 8, 2026, as the institution held a comprehensive orientation programme for newly admitted National Diploma (ND1) and Higher National Diploma (HND1) students.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Mohammed Usman, the Dean of the School of Science, Dr. Lamidi Tajudeen Babatunde, described the Polytechnic as a student-centric institution dedicated to both academic excellence and character development. He urged the matriculants to maximize the enabling environment provided by the school, emphasizing that discipline remains the cornerstone of success both within the campus and in their future careers.

The Registrar, Malam Mohammed Tukur Lamido (represented by Deputy Registrar, Malam Yunusa Modibbo Jingi), issued a firm call to responsibility. Highlighting that admission is a privilege, he warned students against social vices including examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, and indecent dressing. He stressed that ignorance of the Students’ Handbook would not be accepted as an excuse for misconduct and reminded students of the mandatory nature of regular lecture attendance.

Health & Facilities: Students were briefed on the Tertiary Students Health Insurance Programme (TSHIP) by Chief Nursing Officer, Malam Babangida Aliyu, while the Director of Works, Engr. Dr. Mahmud Hussaini, charged them with the protection of school property.

Library & Career: Guidance was provided on the use of library resources and early career planning to ensure a competitive edge upon graduation.

The Chief Coach, Alhaji Hassan Bila Tanko, encouraged participation in sports like the Rector’s Cup and NIPOGA, while the Polytechnic Ombudsman, Barrister Nickson Lawi Abanyi, officially administered the oath of office to the newly elected Students’ Representative Council (SRC) executives.

The event, which featured interactive sessions and insightful presentations, concluded with a clear charge: academic success at Federal Polytechnic Bali is inseparable from personal integrity and purposeful engagement.
