Redeemer's University's Prof. Happi and Others Honored with HLF Role Model Awards
Prof. Christian Happi, Director of the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has been honored with the Hallmarks of Labour Foundation (HLF) Role Model Award for his outstanding contributions to medicine and science.

Prof. Christian Happi, the Director of the African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has been selected for the prestigious Hallmarks of Labour Foundation (HLF) Role Model Award for this year. Alongside Happi, several other distinguished individuals have also been recognized for their outstanding contributions to medicine, science, and humanity across Africa.
The announcement was made by Prof. Oladapo Ashiru, President of the Academy of Medicine Specialties and a renowned consultant reproductive endocrinologist. Expressing his delight over the selection, Prof. Ashiru emphasized the pride that the Academy feels in acknowledging the exemplary achievements of Happi and his fellow awardees.
Being esteemed fellows of the Academy of Medicine Specialties and other professional bodies, Happi and the other recipients were chosen for their remarkable accomplishments in medicine and science. Prof. Ashiru lauded their wealth of knowledge and experiences, underscoring their significant impact on the advancement of science in Africa.
The HLF Role Model Award, instituted by the foundation, aims to celebrate individuals of African descent, particularly Nigerians, who have attained success through diligence, hard work, honesty, and integrity in their respective fields. The award seeks to promote positive values among younger generations and contribute to Nigeria's standing on the global stage.
Past recipients of the award, both living and deceased, include eminent personalities such as Prof. Peter Okebukola, Prof. Wole Soyinka, Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and Prof. Attahiru Jega, among others. These individuals have left indelible marks in their respective spheres of influence, serving as inspirations for future generations.
Upon learning of Happi's selection for this year's award, Prof. Shadrach Akindele, Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, commended him for his unwavering dedication and passion. Prof. Akindele urged Happi to continue striving for excellence and to further elevate his work on the global stage.
