Reward First-Class Graduates More Than Athletes, Foundation Urges FG
The First Class Muslim Foundation has called on the Federal Government to prioritize rewarding first-class graduates from Nigerian universities over the incentives given to sportsmen and women.
According to the foundation, recognizing and rewarding academic excellence will inspire students nationwide to strive for similar achievements, ultimately boosting academics in Nigeria.
Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, Chairman of the foundation's incorporated trustees, emphasized the importance of valuing intellectual achievers. He stated that educating people empowers them and urged the government to focus more on education, encouraging scholarships to drive development.
The foundation suggested that first-class graduates be rewarded with substantial incentives, similar to the over N100 million some sportsmen received. Ogunmuyiwa believes this would motivate many youths to pursue education and scholarship seriously.
The foundation recently held its seventh edition of the M-First Series, a mentorship training program for first-class Muslim graduates from universities across Nigeria. Experts from various fields trained the graduates in critical thinking, networking, and exploring international study opportunities .
