Rivers State University VC Inaugurates 11 New Deans, Mandates Quality Leadership

The Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU), Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, has officially inaugurated and sworn in eleven newly elected Deans to lead various faculties within the institution.

The ceremony, held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, marks a significant administrative transition aimed at strengthening academic governance.

The newly inaugurated Deans, tasked with steering their respective faculties toward academic excellence, include:

In his address, Prof. Zeb-Obipi commended the RSU Electoral Committee, chaired by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Blessing R. Jaja, for delivering a transparent and credible election.

As a result of the successful process, the Vice-Chancellor announced that the university management has moved to formalise these procedures. A new Electoral Guidelines and Code of Conduct Handbook will be produced to serve as a standardized reference for all future campus elections.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the new Deans to justify the confidence reposed in them by their colleagues. He emphasized four pillars for their tenure:

Unity and Respect: Upholding mutual respect across all staff cadres.

Inclusivity: Ensuring an all-encompassing administration.

Professionalism: Adhering strictly to the university's core values.

The ceremony concluded with the formal administration of the oath of office by the Director of Legal Services, Barr. Tamuno Williams, followed by the signing of the Dean's Register.
