Salem University Lokoja Gains Full Accreditation for Five More Courses
Salem University Lokoja has received full accreditation from the NUC for five new programs, including Business Education and Education Computer Science.
Salem University Lokoja has received full accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for five additional academic programs. This achievement was announced by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo, during a press briefing on Friday.
The accreditation, communicated through a letter dated June 6, was signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Eng. Abraham Chindusu, on behalf of the NUC Acting Executive Secretary, Mr. Chris Maiyaki. The Vice Chancellor highlighted that the newly accredited courses include Business Education, Education Computer Science, Education English, Educational Management, and Social Studies, all housed within the University’s College of Education.

Prof. Johnson-Akubo noted that this new milestone follows the successful accreditation of seven other programs in 2022. These programs are BSc: Computer Science, Information Technology, Geology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, and MSc/MBA Business Administration.
“Last year, we also obtained NUC’s approval to offer PhD programs, providing advanced educational opportunities for both Nigerian citizens and international students. This latest accreditation is a significant achievement for Salem University, reflecting our commitment to producing global leaders and change agents poised to drive growth and development worldwide,” Johnson-Akubo stated.
The Vice Chancellor also emphasized the high demand for Salem University's courses and the university’s robust infrastructural development, which supports the admission of more students across various departments.

Expressing gratitude, Prof. Johnson-Akubo thanked God and the Chancellor, Archbishop Sam Amaga, for their roles in achieving full accreditation for virtually all programs across the university’s seven colleges.
