Senator Professor David Iornem recently celebrated his 75th birthday, with Team I Am Benue organizing a special event to honor his extensive contributions to education and community development in Tiv land. The celebration attracted a diverse group of scholars, dignitaries, and community members, who gathered to reflect on Iornem's impact over the years.
Throughout his career, Senator Iornem has established numerous educational institutions, including Malamin College, Iornem Nyagba Zeka College, and Commonwealth Academy, among others. His commitment to improving education in the region has been recognized as a significant factor in the advancement of the community.
The event featured traditional Tiv music, including performances from musicians sent by the Tor Tiv, HRM Professor James Ayatse. Instruments such as the Kucha man and Or-Gidô added a cultural depth to the festivities, highlighting the importance of tradition in the celebration.
Senator Iornem's influence extends beyond education. He has played a pivotal role in Tiv politics, inspired by Wantaregh Paul Unongo’s revolutionary work, "Where Do We Go From Here." His efforts have contributed to the creation of three autonomous divisions in Tiv land: Makurdi, Gboko, and Katsina Ala.
