Sokoto State University's Vice Chancellor Re-affirms Commitment To Examination Misconduct-Free Administration

Prof. Garba made the pronouncement, while inaugurating members of the reconstituted Examinations Monitoring Committee (EMC) at the Senate Chamber.

He urged members of the Committee to justify the confidence reposed in them by being resolute in discharging their duties without fear or favour.

“We will remain firm in fighting all forms of examination malpractice and other social vices that tend to jeopardize the image of Sokoto State University,” the VC disclosed.

Prof. Garba noted that the main thrust of the Examinations Monitoring Committee is to halt examinations malpractice, not witch-hunting any student, as such, its success counts on the recording of zero misconduct during the examinations not the number of arrests.

The Vice-Chancellor said the EMC Committee would be fully supported by the University Management to ensure that no stone is left unturned in the fight against examination misconduct. The Committee is reconstituted because some of the members serving it have been officially released by the University to further their studies and others have been assigned with other responsibilities.

Prof. Garba further maintained that on their part, they would make sure that all members of staff are committed to their duties diligently so that the students are adequately taught and supervised, as the case may be, by their lecturers. He expressed his willingness to actively participate in the teaching of students and supervision of their projects with a view to motivating others to remain devoted to their duties.

“Indeed, our members of staff are up and doing in carrying out their assignments. I’m so delighted with such a commendable effort. That is one of the reasons I decided to participate in lecturing the students to complement the effort,” he vowed.

Speaking earlier, the EMC Chairman, Dr. Mustapha Sani, who is also the Head of the Department of Geography, promised to justify their appointment by sustaining the tempo of war against examination fraud in the University. He, therefore, pledged to work as a team to ensure huge success.

Dr. Sani thanked the University Management, on behalf of other members of the Committee for finding them worthy to serve the institution in that capacity.
