South Sudan has taken the precautionary measure of indefinitely closing all schools as the country grapples with an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring between 41 and 45 degrees Celsius. Health Minister Yolanda Awel Deng announced the decision, urging parents to monitor their children for signs of heat exhaustion and heatstroke during this period.
