Approximately 30 students at Columbia University in New York walked out of a class taught by former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to protest their school's alleged involvement in "shaming" pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

Nearly 300 students were attending a two-hour lecture on women's involvement in peace processes, led by Clinton and Keren Yarhi-Milo, the dean of Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs.

However, not even halfway through the class, around 30 students left as part of a planned student walkout, joining dozens of other protesters in the building's lobby.The demonstrators, who had been sitting quietly, were expressing their discontent with the school's role in publicly shaming students who had attributed responsibility to Israel for the war in Gaza.

Photographs of the students appeared on video screen panels on a truck near the campus, accompanied by the words "Columbia's Leading Antisemites." According to the protesters, these photos were taken from a "private and secure" online platform for students at the School of International and Public Affairs.

The protesting students were demanding "immediate legal support for affected students" and "a commitment to student safety, well-being, and privacy."

The students whose images appeared on the video panels were members of groups that had signed a statement about the Middle East conflict, attributing responsibility to the Israeli government for the war and casualties.

As the class concluded, the demonstrators anticipated that both Dean Yarhi-Milo and Mrs. Clinton would walk past them, but they ultimately left through a side door.

Columbia University provided no comment on the matter.
