Taraba State University Lecturer Prof. Elkanah J. Sambo Receives Prestigious Academic Excellence Award

Professor Elkanah J. Sambo, a distinguished academic and Director of Advancement at Taraba State University, Jalingo, has been honored with the Jenjo Youth Academic Excellence Award 2024.

This prestigious award recognizes his outstanding contributions to the field of Public Health Parasitology and Medical Entomology.

Prof. Sambo is a highly qualified academic with a strong educational background, including:

- BSc Zoology

- MSc Applied Parasitology & Entomology

- MSc Public Health

- PhD Public Health Parasitology

He has also undergone postdoctoral training, earning professional certificates in EU grant writing from the University of Turku, Finland, and stimulating sustainable entrepreneurial thinking in science from the University of Lancaster, UK.

Prof. Sambo has held various leadership positions, including:

- Pioneer Head of Department, Biological Sciences (6 years)

- Coordinator, School of Preliminary Studies (3 years)

- Dean, Faculty of Sciences, Taraba State University, Jalingo

He has also supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, including over 90 undergraduates, 50 MSc students, and 8 PhD students.
