The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has inaugurated a groundbreaking Central Library Complex at Bauchi State University, Gadau (BASUG), marking a significant milestone in the academic evolution of the institution.

The Central Library, approved under the 2017-2019 merged annual intervention, is poised to become a cornerstone for learning, research, and knowledge dissemination within the academic landscape of the university.

BASUG has been a major beneficiary of TETFund, accessing a substantial portion of the allocated N17.34bn since 2012. These funds were specifically dedicated to infrastructure development, including annual, special, special high impact, and zonal interventions.

Mr. Babatunde commended BASUG's administration for effectively utilizing the allocated funds, enhancing the institution's capacity for teaching, research, and community service.

"These projects undertaken have remarkably impacted on the mandate of the university in facilitating teaching, learning, research, and community service," he remarked. He also expressed confidence that the Central Library will serve as a rich repository for current publications, fostering diverse research endeavors and furthering knowledge acquisition.

In her response, Vice Chancellor Prof. Fatima Tahir praised TETFund’s crucial role, highlighting the transformative impact of the project on the university’s future. She expressed gratitude to the federal government and TETFund for their commitment to education, ensuring exceptional learning experiences for students.

Hon. Aliyu Bappa Misau, a member of the House of Representatives committee on TETFund, noted the National Assembly’s role in endorsing incremental Education Tax (EDT) through the 2021 and 2023 Finance Acts. This increase aims to enhance EDT collections by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), contributing to the development of the country’s public tertiary education landscape.
