Theatre Arts Department Honors Nasarawa State University VC Sa'adatu Liman as Cultural Ambassador

The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, was honored as the Cultural Ambassador of the Department of Theatre and Cultural Studies on Saturday, 14th September 2024. The recognition took place during the 2024 Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship Workshop, held at the Theatre Arts Complex of the University.

In her remarks, Professor Sa'adatu praised the department for organizing the workshop, emphasizing its potential to equip students with entrepreneurial skills in the cultural industry. She noted that the program would encourage students to explore innovative business ideas that blend cultural heritage, creativity, and economic opportunities.

She urged collaboration between the department and the Entrepreneurship Development Centre to enhance branding and marketing of the showcased products. The Vice-Chancellor also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to launching more entrepreneurial initiatives to develop students into self-reliant individuals and employers of labor.

His Royal Highness, the Odyong Nyankpa, Barrister Joel Aninge, highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage, which predates Western influence. He praised the Faculty of Arts for producing the first female Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaya, who chaired the event, commended the department's efforts and pledged support for creating networking opportunities for students.

Dr. Chikada, Head of the Department of Theatre and Cultural Studies, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, explaining that the workshop was designed to introduce students to cultural entrepreneurship and inspire innovation in the cultural sector.

The event concluded with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Adam Binchi, presenting an award of honor to the Vice-Chancellor.
