Tinubu’s Aide Donates Uniforms, Learning Materials to Kano School
Abdullahi Yakasai, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Community Engagement, donated uniforms, exercise books, and teaching materials to Rimi Primary School in Kano State.
Abdullahi Yakasai, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, has donated school uniforms, exercise books, and teaching materials to Rimi Primary School in Yakasai, Kano State. This philanthropic gesture is part of efforts to complement President Bola Tinubu's administration in the education sector.
Yakasai’s donation included 400 uniforms for pupils, exercise books for English and Mathematics, and teaching materials such as chalkboards, colors, and bold pens. The exercise books were customized with portraits of President Tinubu and Yakasai. He emphasized the President’s concern for the education of children, especially in Kano State, where the conditions of many pupils prompted his intervention.
Speaking at the event, Yakasai explained that his decision to kickstart the distribution at Rimi Primary School was inspired by his personal connection to the school, being a former student himself. “This is a good start. From here, we will extend our support to Islamiyya schools and partner with Malami to help almajiris, providing them with uniforms and books to study,” he stated.
Yakasai expressed dissatisfaction with the dilapidated state of the school, particularly the teachers' staff room, and pledged to assist in renovating the facility. “Teaching and learning improve when teachers have a conducive environment,” he noted.
Highlighting the broader educational crisis, Yakasai referenced the 10 million out-of-school children in northern Nigeria and urged state governments, individuals, and organizations to work together to ensure access to basic education. He reiterated the importance of education, stating, “When you educate a child, you educate the nation.”
