The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), is reaffirming its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and skill acquisition among its students. During an inspiring exhibition held on September 20, 2024, Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji expressed the institution's dedication to nurturing and producing innovative entrepreneurs through education and practical experience.

The exhibition, part of the compulsory course titled Acquisition of Practical Skills in Entrepreneurship (ENT 302), showcased an impressive array of products developed by students under the auspices of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (CENT). Addressing the audience at the Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Auditorium, Professor Oladiji declared, “This is another opportunity to see what our students have accomplished through the skills they have acquired over the past few weeks. This annual event has successfully exposed budding entrepreneurs to opportunities that extend beyond our nation.”

Highlighting the university's mantra, “technology for self-reliance,” Professor Oladiji encouraged students to continue embracing technology and lifelong learning as vital components for their future success. In her welcome address, the Director of CENT, Professor Oladunni Daramola, emphasized the training's significance for students' futures. “The aim is to unearth hidden entrepreneurial potentials and promote self-reliance,” she stated, citing successful alumni who have thrived by leveraging the skills gained through the program. Professor Daramola expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and the university management for their unwavering support and noted that the university environment provides a fertile ground for entrepreneurial growth.

During the exhibition, a diverse range of products was on display, showcasing the creativity and innovation of FUTA students. The offerings included farm produce, home accessories, solar-powered appliances, confectioneries, fashion items, artwork, and more. This vibrant array not only highlighted the students' skills but also reflected the university’s emphasis on practical, real-world applications of their learning.
