The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo State, has refuted claims of suspending night shifts or embarking on strike amidst an ongoing dispute over the hospital's power supply.

Contrary to reports, the Joint Action Committee (JAC), a coalition of all hospital unions except the ARD and Medical and Dental Consultants of Nigeria (MDCN), instructed its members to adjust their work schedules, operating only between 8 am and 4 pm daily. This decision aimed to protest against the disconnection of UCH's power supply by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) over alleged unpaid bills amounting to N495 million.

In a statement issued by its President, John Oladapo, and General Secretary, Gboyega Ajibola, the ARD emphasized its unwavering commitment to providing essential care and services despite the challenging circumstances. The statement clarified misconceptions surrounding the situation, asserting that UCH doctors remain steadfast in their duty to patients.
