UDUS Appoints Professor Adumu Tukur as New Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development

The Senate Committee of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) has appointed Professor Adumu Tukur as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development (DVC RI&D), effective February 26, 2025.
Professor Tukur succeeds the late Professor Yusuf Saidu, who served as the pioneer DVC RI&D from April 2021 to June 2024.
According to a statement released by the university, "The appointment of Professor Tukur is a testament to his exceptional leadership skills, academic excellence, and dedication to the advancement of education."
Professor Tukur is a renowned professor of parasitology at UDUS. Born on February 2, 1962, in Gurbi, Zamfara State, Nigeria, he has had a distinguished academic career, with degrees from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
He has also obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Health from Gombe State University. Professor Tukur has served in various capacities and has made significant contributions to parasitology research and higher education locally, nationally, and internationally.
