UDUS Muslim Health Students Hold Annual Week, Charge Newly Appointed Executives to Defend Public Trust
The Association of Muslim Health Students (AMHS), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS Chapter), concluded its annual weeklong event earlier this month.
The event, themed "Emblem of Hope: Youthful and Useful", was held at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH).
It featured medical outreaches, a campus clean-up exercise, Quran recitation competition, visitations to orphanage homes, the inauguration of new executives for the 2025/2026 academic session, and an award ceremony.
The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries, including Dr Jabir Sani Maihula, Honourable Commissioner; Dr Shadi Sabeh, Vice Chancellor, Iconic University; Dr Mustapha Sidi Attahiru, Chairman, Sokoto State Zakariyah; Alhaji Lawal Mai Doki, Chairman, Sokoto State Waqf Commission; Prof. A. A. Jimoh, Provost, College of Health Sciences; Prof. Zayyanu Usman, Deputy Dean of Students' Affairs, UDUS; Dr Abdullahi Ngaski, Deputy Director, School of Medical Laboratory Science (SMLS); Dr Hibban Muhammad Sani; and Prof. Murtala Ahmad, Deputy Provost, College of Health Sciences.
Speaking at the event, Sa'eed Muhammad Sadis, a final-year student of Human Medicine and the association's outgoing Ameer, expressed gratitude to members of his executive council for their support in ensuring his administration was a success.
Sadis urged the newly appointed exco, led by AbdulAzeez Muhammad Sanusi, a 500L student of Human Medicine, to be God-fearing.
He charged them to defend the trust vested in them, serve and lead with sincerity of mind, and prioritize whatever pleases Allah.
VANGUARD PRESS spoke with AbdulAzeez Muhammad Sanusi, the newly appointed Ameer, who noted that his appointment is a challenge to maintain the status quo.
Sanusi gave assurance that programs will be held alongside health-related initiatives to enhance members' professional and spiritual growth.
