The Chapel of the Resurrection has organised an orientation briefing for newly admitted students of University of Ibadan for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Addressing the students on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Kayode O. Adebowale, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Peter O. Olapegba, identified two key challenges students would face: freedom and peer influence. He advised them to manage newfound independence responsibly and choose companions wisely, cautioning that habits formed in 100 level can have long-term consequences.
Professor Olapegba emphasized that the University of Ibadan was built on a tradition of excellence and encouraged students to uphold this legacy through diligence and passion. He also urged students to seek guidance from academic mentors and spiritual leaders, highlighting the importance of a functional relationship with God in achieving success.

The Registrar, Ganiyu O. Saliu, reinforced the message by stressing that the university prioritizes both academic and spiritual development. He encouraged students to explore their university experience responsibly and to embrace hard work from the outset.
Other speakers at the briefing included the Chairman of the Chapel, Engineer Adejimi Asaye, who urged students to engage actively in church activities to avoid distractions, and the Chaplain, V. I. Oladele, who assured students of the Chapel’s guidance and support. He highlighted opportunities for spiritual growth through activity groups and a youth forum.
Dr. Aderonke Ajav, coordinator of the Chapel’s Host Families Project, explained the initiative, which connects fresh students with volunteer families for mentorship, support, and guidance. She encouraged participation in the program, noting its benefits for academic and personal development.
