UI Names Postgraduate Building After Late Professor Onabamiro

The University of Ibadan (UI) has named its postgraduate college administrative building after the late Professor Sanya Dojo Onabamiro, a renowned scientist and scholar.
The naming ceremony was attended by notable figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, described Professor Onabamiro as a "titan and trailblazer in parasitology" and a "visionary educator and dedicated public servant." He noted that the legacy of Professor Onabamiro would serve as an inspiration to future generations of postgraduate students and scholars.
The UI's Postgraduate College is considered the flagship of postgraduate education in Nigeria. The building named after Professor Onabamiro will serve as a reminder of his dedication to learning, passion for discovery, and commitment to excellence.
Former President Obasanjo praised Professor Onabamiro's remarkable legacy, while Senator Amosun commended the university for honoring the late scholar. The immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka, also appreciated the university's decision to name the building after Professor Onabamiro.
The ceremony included the unveiling of the signage of the building's name, with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, participating in the unveiling.
