UNIABUJA Convocation Begins with Jumu’ah Prayers as Management Seeks Divine Guidance for Ceremony
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, on Friday joined members of the university community for Jumu’ah prayers at the University mosque, marking the commencement of activities for the 29th and 30th Convocation ceremony of the University of Abuja.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, on Friday joined members of the university community for Jumu’ah prayers at the University mosque, marking the commencement of activities for the 29th and 30th Convocation ceremony of the University of Abuja.
The prayer session brought together senior university officials, staff, and students in a solemn atmosphere focused on spiritual reflection and supplication for a successful convocation exercise.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam, Mal Murtala Lawal, spoke on the importance of leadership and responsibility, urging those in positions of authority to uphold justice, accountability, and service to humanity. He also led prayers seeking divine guidance for peace, order, and a successful convocation celebration.

Speaking after the prayers, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Muslim community for their continuous spiritual support to the institution. He called for sustained prayers, noting that spiritual backing remains vital to the growth, unity, and stability of the university.
Professor Fawehinmi further emphasized that the university values the role of faith communities in fostering harmony and collective progress within the institution.
